David Kaufman, MD is Medical Director of the Clinic. He earned his MD at New York Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center. He has devoted his 30+ year career to the care of patients with challenging, difficult to diagnose, poorly understood diseases in New York and California and was on the front-lines of the HIV epidemic in New York in the 1980s and 90s. He has extensive experience managing patients with HIV Disease, Hepatitis C, Lyme Disease, chronic viral diseases, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. In addition, as an Internist, he focuses on the delivery of primary care to adults of all ages with an emphasis on comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, developed on a foundation of continuity and accessibility.
Katie Reid, PhD
Katie Reid, PhD is a Nutrition Counselor. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry at UCSC and has lectured and consulted extensively on food and nutrition impact on health and chronic disease. She specializes in food solutions for neurological and inflammatory disorders and restoring flora balance to our human ecosystem.
Andreas Kogelnik, MD, PhD
Andreas Kogelnik, MD, PhD, is the Director of the Institute. He completed his MD at Emory University School of Medicine and his PhD in Bioengineering at Georgia Tech. He trained as a resident in Internal Medicine and fellow in Infectious Diseases at Stanford University and remained there as a post-doc and research faculty before founding the Clinic in 2009 and Institute in 2011.
Bela Chheda, MD
Bela Chheda, MD received her medical degree from the University of Mumbai (India). She trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University of Southern California. Prior to joining OMI, she was affiliated with the ID Doctors Medical Group , and practiced as an Infectious Diseases Doctor for over 10 years at various hospitals in the East Bay Region of Northern California. Her passion for diagnosing and treating challenging cases led to her interest in CFS/ME, and to her path at OMI. As an Infectious Diseases specialist she focuses on the complex interplay between the immune system and infections.She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases
